BORACAY: THE POLVORON BEACH

The polvoron beach sand of Boracay is Aklan’s most famous tourist destination. It is located in the municipality of Malay, and is approximately 315 km south of Manila. The town of Malay resides three barangays: Manoc-Manoc, Balabag and Yapak. Boracay is beyond doubt most visited by locals and foreigners all over the world. With its endless white sand beaches, water sports activities, offered relaxation, tranquility and nightlife, Boracay is known to be visited for many reasons and seasons. It basically offers an escape from the busy reality of the city, away from the stress and tension.

Tourists say that one has to visit Boracay first before any other beaches in the country. And it is undeniably the best beach of the country, Boracay was even awarded as best island in the world in 2012 from an international travel magazine named Travel + Leisure. In this butterfly-shaped island in Western Visayas, afternoons can be spent dipping your toes and lazing on the beach while nights are spent to luxuriate in its tropical party life.

The best part of Boracay is simply walking on its four-kilometer white beach acclaimed as the “finest beach in the world.” Just by walking on the white, soft, polvoron-like sand of Boracay, you have already experienced simply the best part of Boracay. Its white sand is literally soft and polvoron-like, anyone would attempt to eat it. But joking aside, this is why barefoot walking is encouraged to all tourists. 

In the island of Boracay, you are given choices on the stations you would want to stay in. Station 3 is recommended for tourists who want no disturbances from the many people in the island. This station may be called as the quiet side of Boracay. In Station 2, tourists can experience relaxation with a hint of its tropical night party life. The station offers a great balance for tourists who want to unwind and party at the same time. In Station 3, this station is known for the countless restaurants and bars. Visitors can indulge in the many fire dancers and live bands along the station.

Entertainment and diversions are no problem in this island. Leisure activities from island hopping, boating, kayaking, wind surfing, kite surfing, parasailing, fly fish and many more. Boracay hosts the annual Paraw Regatta, an international sailboat race. Scuba diving is also popular in Boracay, for both beginners and professional divers, offered by the many dive shops in the area.


If you intend to take a vacation in Boracay, be prepared for the many experiences when you visit. With the easy atmosphere and welcoming feel of the island, you will surely enjoy the wide range of choices you may want. From getting massages by the seashore, barhopping, shisha and fire dancing in every stop, you will have hard time on choosing what to experience first and wish for a longer stay in Boracay.
